Matsuya's May Sales Jump 18%, Customer Traffic Slips 3.5%
Matsuya (TYO:8237) recorded an 18% year-on-year increase in total department store sales for May, according to a Monday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.Sales at the Ginza store jumped 19%, while sales at the Asakusa location inched up 2.4%.In May, customer traffic at Ginza stores fell 7.1% but gained 2.9% at Akasuka stores. Matsuya's total customer traffic slipped 3.5% year on year.Matsuya's shares rose nearly 2% in recent trade.
