ABC-Mart's All Stores Sales Down 6.6% in June
ABC-Mart (TYO:2670) all-store sales fell 6.6% year-on-year in June due to fewer Sundays and poor weather from typhoons and rain, which kept foot traffic low.However, sports apparel saw strong demand from Father's Day gifts, especially hands-free shoes and weather-adaptive clothing, according to a Thursday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.The retailer's existing store sales also declined 6.6% year-on-year.The number of customers at all stores dropped nearly 13% while spending rose 6.9%.At existing stores, customer count fell nearly 13% while sales per customer gained 6.8%.The retailer opened three new stores and closed two during the month, bringing the total store count to 1,116.
