Southwest Gas Holdings Says Great Basin Expansion Project Reaches 1 Bcf/d in Contracted Demand
Southwest Gas Holdings (SWX) on Wednesday said contracted demand for its Great Basin 2028 Expansion Project now totals about 1 billion cubic feet following additional binding precedent agreements in Q2.Efforts to execute additional BPAs are ongoing to convert expressions of interest of an additional 1.8 Bcf for requested in-service dates ranging from 2029 through 2035, according to the Nevada-based energy holding company."All additional expressions of interest remain subject to the successful negotiation of BPAs and the posting of required surety," the company said in its earnings statement.The project, which involves expansion of Great Basin's natural gas transmission system in Nevada, is expected to add about 1 Bcf per day of incremental demand and is estimated to require about $2.3 billion in capital investment.Once operational, it could generate approximately $270 million to $300 million in annual incremental margin, the company said.Preparations for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission certificate application, expected later in 2026, are progressing as planned, with field surveys, public outreach, and engineering work underway.Additional future demand could support further expansion projects, subject to regulatory approvals and construction timelines, the statement said.Southwest Gas Holdings, through its main subsidiary Southwest Gas Corporation, buys, transports, and distributes natural gas.Price: $90.99, Change: $+1.94, Percent Change: +2.18%
