Shanghai Putailai New Energy Technology (SHA:603659) plans to construct a lithium-ion battery separator project for 5.6 billion yuan, according to a Shanghai bourse filing on Thursday.The Chinese lithium-ion battery materials manufacturer will build the project in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China through subsidiaries Sichuan Zhuoqin New Material Technology and Sichuan Gaoju Material Technology.The project's phase I includes the construction of eight base-film production lines that will produce 3.2 billion square meters of the material every year. Phase II will also include the construction of eight base-film production lines that will yearly produce 4 billion square meters of the same material.Phase I is expected to start trial production in 2027, while commercial production for Phase II is planned to start in the first quarter of 2028.
