Sagicor Financial Renews Normal Course Issuer Bid to Buy Back Shares
Sagicor Financial's (SFC.TO) notice of intention to renew its normal course issuer bid was approved by the Toronto Stock Exchange, which may allow the company to buy back up to 9.2 million common shares, it said on Monday.The bid covers the 12 month period starting on Wednesday, it said. The number of shares authorized for repurchase represents 10% of the public float, said the company. Sagicor had 136.2 million issued and outstanding common shares as of June 10, it said.Sagicor also extended the term of its automatic share purchase plan in relation to the buybacks made in connection with the bid to allow it to buy shares under the bid when the company would ordinarily not be permitted because of regulatory restrictions and customary self-imposed blackout periods.Shares of the company closed up 3.2% to C$8.49 on Friday on the TSX.
