Veolia to Partner with Three Companies on Water Technology, Waste Treatment in Saudi Arabia

Veolia Environnement (VIE.PA) said Tuesday it entered into memorandums of understanding with three companies in Saudi Arabia regarding strategic collaboration on water technologies and hazardous waste management in the kingdom in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.The French waste and water management company will look to formulate better designs for seawater desalination plants with private water desalination company Acwa (SASE:2082) and improve water cycle and industrial waste management with mining company Saudi Arabian Mining (SASE:1211), d/b/a Ma'aden.Veolia will also deploy environmental technologies and develop an integrated facility management offer for water, energy, and waste management under a separate agreement with Khazeen, the liquefied petroleum gas storage business of Alghaz Waltsnae Co. Tadawul Shares Surge on Sunday; Saudi Arabia's July Construction Cost Index Ticks Up

The Tadawul All Share Index closed 1.13% in the green on Sunday as investors focus on Saudi Arabia's latest economic release and tariff updates.According to the General Authority of Statistics, the kingdom's construction cost index rose 2.3% annually in July after a 2.7% rise in the prior month. Month over month, the construction index remained steady."CCI for the residential sector recorded an annual increase of 2.2%. This was driven by a 4.2% rise in the costs of renting equipment and machinery, mainly due to a 5.7% increase in the costs of renting equipment and machinery with operators," the regulatory body said in its report. "CCI for the non-residential sector recorded an annual increase of 2.6% compared to the corresponding month of 2025, due to an increase in the costs of renting equipment and machinery by 5.8%, driven by an 7.3% increase in the rental of equipment and machinery with operators, a 1.8% increase in labor costs, and a 3.0% increase in energy costs."Speaking of economic releases, the local economic calendar will see the release of the kingdom's export and import numbers for June on Tuesday. Market watchers will also look out for the estimated quarterly GDP growth rate data of the US on Wednesday.In other news, Canada decided to impose retaliatory tariffs on certain US goods after President Donald Trump ordered a 50% levy on Canadian products. The Tadawul All Share Index started the week 0.76% higher as investors assessed Saudi Arabia's latest economic data and earnings reports.Official preliminary data from Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics showed that the industrial production index dropped 14.1% year over year in March. Month over month, industrial production fell 22.3%."The index of oil activities decreased by 20.0% in March 2026 compared to the same month of the previous year, while the index of non-oil activities remained stable at a level close to its performance in the same period of the previous year. The results also indicated that the index of oil activities decreased by 30.8% while the index of non-oil activities increased by 1.4% compared to February 2026," the statistics agency said in its report.Speaking of economic releases, the local calendar will see the release of the kingdom's inflation and wholesale prices data for April on Thursday.In other news, investors are focusing on the latest updates regarding the operations of the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle Eastern conflict. Reuters reported that the US is waiting for Iran's response regarding its proposal to end the war.Back at home, a slew of earnings dominated headlines as several companies published their first-quarter financial statements. The bourse's biggest company, Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (SASE:2222), d/b/a Saudi Aramco, ticked up 0.81% as it posted a 25.553% increase in net profit and a 6.766% climb in revenue.Saudi Aramco Base Oil Co. (SASE:2223), d/b/a Luberef, also posted higher attributable profit and revenue in the March quarter. Acwa Power (SASE:2082), however, reported a decline in its profit for the three months ended March 31.Acwa Power closed 1.65% higher, while Luberef shares closed 0.17% lower.
