New Zealand Shares Fall; Chorus Acknowledges New Zealand Government's Deal to Monetize Debt
New Zealand shares ended lower on Friday as most Asian shares saw losses after a sell-off in Wednesday's Wall Street trading session.The S&P/NZX 50 Index fell 0.96% or 133.93 points to close at 13,824.13.On Thursday, the Nasdaq Composite lost 0.1%, the S&P 500 fell 0.2% while the Dow Jones declined 0.9%.In domestic news, the national average asking price in New Zealand remained flat at NZ$866,945 in July, up 1% on last year's NZ$858,371, according to a report by realestate.co.nz.In corporate news, Chorus (ASX:CNU, NZE:CNU) acknowledged the New Zealand government's binding agreements to monetize the debt it holds in the company.NZME (NZE:NZM, ASX:NZM) struck an agreement to acquire the print plant equipment at Stuff's facility in Petone, New Zealand.
