OCI Reports One Death, Two Injuries in Gwangyang Plant Accident
OCI (KRX:456040) said a serious industrial accident at its Gwangyang Plant No. 1 left one contractor employee dead and two others injured, according to a Tuesday filing with the Korea Exchange.The accident occurred on May 14 during activated carbon replacement work at the plant's raw material pretreatment facility, when residual condensate splashed and caused scald burns to three contractor workers.The injured workers were taken to a hospital for treatment, where one later died. The company reported the accident to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on June 8.Police and labor authorities are investigating the incident, and the company said it will implement measures to prevent a recurrence.The company didn't immediately respond to a request fromfor comment.Shares of OCI rose nearly 4% in recent trade on Wednesday morning.
