Hanwha Solutions Unit Begins Solar Cells Production at US Facility
Hanwha Solutions (KRX:009830) subsidiary Hanwha Qcells began producing solar cells at its Cartersville facility in Georgia, from Tuesday, the company said in a Thursday release.The solar manufacturer plans to increase cell production capacity to 3.3 gigawatts, the facility's full capacity, by the third quarter. Along with commencing solar cell production, the Cartersville module assembly is now at full capacity, building 16,700 panels a day.The plant will also manufacture wafers and ingots that are used in solar cell manufacturing, and 3.5 GW of modules a year. Combined with the company's Dalton, Georgia, facility, Hanwha Qcells' annual solar panel production capacity will reach 8.6 GW, it said.Shares of Hanwha Solutions fell over 2% in recent trade.
