Equinor to Buy Stake in Chevron's Petroleum Exploration License Offshore Namibia
Equinor (EQNR.OL) agreed to acquire a 17.4% participating interest in Petroleum Exploration Licence 90, or PEL 90, in the Orange Basin offshore Namibia from Chevron (CHV.F, CVX.VI) subsidiary Harmattan Energy.The transaction will grant the Norwegian energy company access to the drill-ready prospect set for testing within the year.Chevron's unit owned 52.5% of PEL 90 before the transaction. Other partners include QatarEnergy, Trago Energy, and Namibia's state-owned oil company Namcor.
