PlaySide Studios Sees AU$4 Million Revenue Hit in Fiscal Year 2027 After Meta Contract Termination, Shares Hit Nearly One-Year Low

PlaySide Studios (ASX:PLY) was informed by Meta Platforms Technologies that Meta will terminate the company's outsourced development contracts on the Horizon Worlds social platform, with all work expected to conclude by July 31, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.The company said management anticipates the revenue impact from the loss of the work will be about AU$4 million in fiscal 2027, while fiscal year 2026 revenue guidance remains unchanged, and the cash balance at June 30 is expected to be about AU$14 million to AU$15 million.There is no change to the company's development progress on the upcoming title Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, the post-launch roadmap for MOUSE: P.I For Hire or its Dew publishing agreement, the filing added.The company started a consultancy process with several employees that will likely result in redundancies, with the goal of realigning its cost base, and will provide a further update on the outcome in due course.The company's shares fell 21% in recent trade and earlier reached their lowest since July 2025.

PlaySide Studios Upgrades Fiscal Year 2026 Revenue Guidance; Shares Fall 14%

PlaySide Studios (ASX:PLY) said it now expects fiscal year 2026 revenue to be in the range of AU$50 million to AU$53 million, compared with the prior guidance that fiscal year 2026 revenue would exceed fiscal year 2025 reported revenue of AU$48.7 million, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.The company's game, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, sold around 730,000 units across all platforms since launch, with estimated gross platform sales of $21.4 million. This resulted in around $13 million in reported revenue for the firm.Total wishlists for the game across all platforms have grown to 3 million, up from 2.1 million previously. Gaming console units increased to 50% of total units sold.Its shares fell 14% in recent trading on Thursday.

PlaySide Studios (ASX:PLY) reported estimated sales of 360,000 units for its "MOUSE: P.I. For Hire" video game across all platforms since the title's launch on April 17, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.Gross sales for the game so far are estimated at $10.4 million, while estimated net sales to PlaySide are $6.3 million, per the filing."Initial data indicates a highly successful launch across all major platforms, underpinned by strong critical reception and significant player interest," the company said, adding that the early sales performance will "strongly support near-term cash inflows."Shares of PlaySide Studios were down more than 1% in recent Monday trade but earlier hit their highest since January 2025.
