BCAL Diagnostics Launching Cancer Detection Test in Australia; Shares Rise 4%
BCAL Diagnostics (ASX:BDX) is launching its Avantect multi-cancer early detection test in Australia, with an initial rollout in Sydney and Melbourne ahead of a broader national release, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.The blood test looks for cancer-associated signals across eight cancer types, including lung, pancreatic, liver, ovarian, gastric, esophageal, breast, and colorectal cancer, to provide a likely organ-of-origin signal, per the filing.In a case-controlled validation study, the test showed overall sensitivity of 56.2% and specificity of 98.4% across all the analyzed cancers, the company said.Its shares rose 4% in recent Wednesday trade.
