China Shares See Mixed Trade at Open as Global Headwinds Continue
Chinese stocks opened mixed on Wednesday as equities continued to feel the impact of renewed U.S.-China trade tensions.The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, opened 0.2% lower to 3,881.74. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.4% to 13,761.36.Washington is considering a 7.5% tariff on Chinese goods over excess-capacity concerns, potentially lifting Trump's second-term duties on China to about 20%.The U.S is also considering expanded sanctions on Iran, with Chinese companies and banks involved in Iran-linked deals also facing potential penalties.
