World's Sales Climb 15% in May

World's (TYO:3612) domestic sales in May rose 15% year-on-year, according to a Wednesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The apparel company's store sales increased nearly 21%, while same-store sales gained 4.9%.

Online sales, which represent the combined revenue from its own website and other companies' sites, fell 6.8%.

At month-end, the company operated 1,986 stores, up from 1,955 in April.

Arclands' Store Sales Rise 15% in May

Arclands (TYO:9842) and its consolidated subsidiary, Arcland Service, reported that net sales across all stores jumped over 15% on year in May, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Friday.At its existing stores, net sales rose nearly 11%, customer traffic grew 4.7% and average customer spending increased 5.9%.In the food service business, specifically for Katsuya, May net sales were up 0.9% year-on-year.At existing stores, Katsuya's net sales fell 4.8%, while customer count dropped 8.6% but average spending rose 4.2%.Arclands reduced its store count to 716 during the month.
