Woodside Welcomes Western Australia Government's Grant of 'State Significant Project' Status to Gas Project; Shares Down 4%

Woodside Energy Group (ASX:WDS) welcomed a decision by the Western Australian government to grant "state significant project" status to the proposed Browse to North West Shelf gas project, according to a Monday statement from the company.

Woodside is the operator of the Browse joint venture.

The status is the highest level of prioritization under the Western Australian government's Lead Agency Framework, designed to guide proponents through the approvals process, the company said.

The company's shares fell 4% in recent trading on Monday.
