WIA Gold (ASX:WIA) said SENET, a DRA Global Group company, has completed an engineering review of the Kokoseb process plant in Namibia, identifying design provisions that could enable a future increase in plant throughput from the definitive feasibility study (DFS) design basis of nearly 5.3 million tonnes per year to about 7 million tonnes per year, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.
The company said the review targeted equipment sizing, plant layout considerations, structural allowances and supporting infrastructure requirements to enable the plant expansion.
The estimated capital cost of the selected provisions is $9.3 million, representing about a 2% increase in the DFS pre-production capital cost estimate of $475 million, the filing added.
The company's shares fell 2% in recent Thursday trade.
