Renewable Identification Number markets rose for the week of Sep. 3-10, according to the EcoEngineers Carbon Market Snapshot.
D6 2026 corn-based ethanol RIN prices finished trading on Thursday at $2.13 per RIN, up from $2.09/RIN a week ago.
D4 2026 biomass-based diesel RINs traded at $2.18/RIN on Thursday, up from $2.17/RIN a week ago.
D5 2026 advanced biofuel RINs were trading around $2.18/RIN, up from $2.16/RIN last week.
RINs closed higher Thursday-to-Thursday, but the weekly average tells a different story, with prices falling, and that lower direction makes sense given the sharp losses in the soybean oil-heating oil, or BOHO, spread, according to Zander Capozzola, principal consultant at Argus Media Consulting Services.
He said RIN prices are down from the prior week because the BOHO price spread sold off hard.
"Major diesel strength pushed BOHO down to $0.29," Capozzola said. "The spread movement is huge and is the main driver of RINs this week."
BOHO was $0.62 per US gallon last Thursday.
