Vicor (VICR) said Friday it is purchasing a 334,000-square-foot building in Merrimack, New Hampshire, alongside a separate 54-acre parcel in Hooksett to expand chip fabrication capacity.
The acquisitions will support the construction of two new fabrication plants totaling nearly one million square feet as the company's existing Massachusetts site approaches capacity.
The additional domestic capacity will help scale production of power delivery technology required for artificial intelligence applications. Vicor expects initial deployment of ChiP Fab-2 to have a one-year lead time, the company added.
Shares of Vicor were up more than 10% in Friday trading.
