US wholesale electricity prices were mostly higher Friday afternoon, with intraday peaks topping $100 per megawatt-hour in four regions, according to data from GridStatus.io.
Electric Reliability Council of Texas' real-time locational marginal price was $30.60/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load reached 48.88 gigawatts, while natural gas led the generation mix with a 40.7% share.
California Independent System Operator's real-time LMP stood at $33.10/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load was 5.35 GW, with solar providing the largest share of generation at 56.9%.
Southwest Power Pool's real-time LMP came in at $40.99/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load reached 37.64 GW, while natural gas accounted for the largest share of generation at 36.6%. Prices rose to an intraday peak of $124.90/MWh at 3:30 p.m. ET.
PJM Interconnection's real-time LMP was $62.70/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load stood at 111.84 GW, with natural gas making up the biggest portion of the generation mix at 42.9%. Prices climbed to an intraday high of $222.00/MWh at 5:30 p.m. ET.
Midcontinent Independent System Operator's real-time LMP was $29.97/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load totaled 69.67 GW, while natural gas supplied the largest share of the generation mix at 28.8%. Prices reached an intraday high of $130.19/MWh at 1:45 p.m. ET.
New York Independent System Operator's real-time LMP came in at $36.37/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load reached 18.33 GW, with dual fuel representing the largest generation source at 29.6%.
ISO New England's real-time LMP stood at $42.85/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load was 11.37 GW, while natural gas accounted for the largest portion of the generation mix at 36.9%. Prices touched an intraday peak of $113.66/MWh at 5:40 p.m. ET.
Independent Electricity System Operator's real-time LMP was $41.31/MWh at 4 p.m. ET. Net load reached 16.87 GW at 3:55 p.m. ET, with nuclear supplying the largest share of generation at 43.6%.
The National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center forecasts above-normal temperatures across much of the western and southern US from Sep. 19-25, with below-normal readings in the Northeast and near-normal conditions across parts of the eastern US.
