The US dollar strengthened against the Canadian currency Tuesday afternoon on expectations that the US Federal Reserve may raise interest rates this week.
Gold prices fell on rate-rise expectations, with Comex gold December futures down 0.4% to $4,334.70 per ounce.
US 10-year bond yields were up 2.6 basis points Tuesday afternoon to 5.014%.
The greenback was last seen up 0.1% to CA$1.3912.
Oil prices continue to stay above the $100 mark as fighting intensified in the Middle East, and adding to inflationary pressures.
West Texas Intermediate October futures benchmark jumped 5.1% to $106.56 while November Brent crude futures climbed 3.3% to $109.17.
