The US dollar edged up slightly against the Canadian dollar Thursday afternoon, hovering near the highest level since Aug 7.
In a widely-expected move, the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points, marking the first hike since July 2023 and causing the greenback to rise to a six-week high against the loonie on Wednesday.
The US dollar was last seen up 0.01% to CA$1.3988, the highest since Aug. 7. US 10-year treasury yields edged down to 4.949%.
Comex gold futures for December were up 0.3% to $4,402.10 per ounce.
Oil prices fell Thursday afternoon after Saudi Arabia shifted some crude exports through the Strait of Hormuz, CNBC reported.
