Long-range Ukrainian drones hit two Russian oil refineries overnight in the Krasnodar and Yaroslavl regions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed via his official Telegram channel on Sunday.
In the Krasnodar region, falling drone debris ignited a blaze at the private Slavyansk plant, a facility capable of processing 100,000 barrels per day for both domestic consumption and export.
Farther north in Yaroslavl, east of Moscow, the regional governor reportedly confirmed a drone assault had taken place.
"Last night, the Krasnodar Territory was subjected to a massive enemy drone attack," Krasnodar region Governor Veniamin Kondratiev said in a Telegram post.
"Additionally, a fire broke out at an oil refinery in the city, and a power transmission line and a gas pipeline were damaged. Emergency and specialized services are currently working at the sites," the governor added.
Reuters reported that Kyiv's increasingly frequent drone campaign against energy infrastructure has triggered acute fuel shortages in parts of Russia.
"We continue our operations that weaken Russia's ability to wage this war," Zelenskyy noted.
