Wynn Resorts' (WYNN) Encore Boston Harbor casino and hotel face a possible labor action after two unions voted on Thursday to authorize a strike, news outlets reported.
The contracts of around 1,350 members of Unite Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25 working at the property expire Aug. 31, and the labor action could begin after that, local ABC News affiliate WHDH reported on its website.
Employees are threatening to strike over wages and health benefits, the report said.
A company spokesperson said management was disappointed by the strike vote, but remained committed to negotiating an agreement, "one that works for our employees and keeps the business strong for the long term."
"We have put forward a serious proposal, one that is grounded in financial reality. What we cannot do is sign an agreement that is not financially sustainable, because an unsustainable agreement could put jobs at risk, for union and non-union employees alike," the spokesperson said in an emailed response to.
