Update: US Equity Futures Mixed Pre-Bell as Halt in Middle East Hostilities Holds, Semiconductor Stocks Drop

US equity futures were mixed pre-bell Tuesday as the pause in hostilities between the US and Iran appeared to hold, while semiconductor-related stocks once again declined.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 0.9% higher, S&P 500 futures were up 0.1%, and Nasdaq futures were 0.7% lower.

President Donald Trump said late Monday that the US was having "good talks" with Iran, with a "good chance" that a deal could be made, but warned that US attacks would resume if negotiations failed. Iran's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday it had discussions with Saudi Arabia and Oman regarding maritime passage on the Strait of Hormuz.

Traders digested the latest round of earnings, with Coca-Cola (KO) posting higher fiscal Q2 comparable earnings and revenue.

Visa (V) is expected to report its fiscal Q3 earnings after the market closes. Analysts polled by FactSet expect earnings of $3.23 per share on revenue of $11.4 billion.

Oil prices were lower, with front-month global benchmark North Sea Brent crude down 2.2% at $83.96 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude 1.8% lower at $81.12 per barrel.

The US advance international trade in goods deficit narrowed to $101.46 billion in June from $105.89 billion in May, according to data released by the US Census Bureau.

The May S&P Case-Shiller home price index is scheduled for release at 9 am ET. The July consumer confidence index, due at 10 am ET, is projected to rise to 92.4 from 91.2. The Richmond Fed manufacturing index for July is also scheduled to be released at 10 am ET.

In other world markets, Japan's Nikkei closed 4% lower, Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended 0.4% higher, and China's Shanghai Composite finished 1.2% lower. Meanwhile, the UK's FTSE 100 was up 0.5%, and Germany's DAX index was 0.1% higher in Europe's early afternoon session.

In equities, Micron Technology (MU), AMD (AMD), and Intel (INTC) stocks were all down in premarket activity as part of a wider drop in the semiconductor sector. Micron shares fell 6.7%, AMD stock was down 4.3%, and Intel shares were 5.2% lower.

On the winning side, Coca-Cola shares rose 4.2% after the company reported better-than expected comparable earnings and net operating revenue for Q2, as well as raised its comparable EPS growth outlook and organic revenue growth outlook for 2026. Microsoft (MSFT) was up 1.8% after the company introduced Project Perception, an AI-powered cybersecurity platform designed to detect, assess and respond to cyber threats in real time as attackers increasingly use AI to automate attacks. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) shares were up 1.9% after the company said it has agreed to commit up to $5.5 billion to settle about 76,000 lawsuits that alleged its talc products caused ovarian cancer, aiming to bring finality to the 15-year litigation.

However, the Iran-backed Houthi forces attacked two energy facilities in Saudi Arabia in retaliation for the latter's air strikes on its military positions in Hodeidah.Back home and on the corporate front, FAB Securities reiterated its accumulate rating on the National Bank of Ras Al-Khaimah (ADX:RAKBANK), d/b/a Rakbank, with a price target of 10 Emirati dirhams per share, citing resilient profitability growth in the second quarter backed by an increase in net funded and non-funded income. Its shares closed the session 0.66% higher.Over in Dubai, Emirates Islamic Bank executed a host-to-host integration of its banking platform with Taaleem Holdings' (DFM:TAALEEM) enterprise resource planning system to enhance the latter's payment processes. Taaleem shares were 0.63% in the green at the time of closing.
