The combined count of crude oil, natural gas, and miscellaneous rigs in the US rose by one to 581 in the week ending July 10, according to data from Baker Hughes (BKR) released Friday.
The US oil rig count remained unchanged from the previous week at 445, while the gas rig count also held steady at 126, the data showed.
The number of miscellaneous rigs in the US increased by one from nine the previous week to 10. The US had 424 oil, 108 gas, and five miscellaneous rigs in operation a year earlier.
The consolidated North American oil and gas rig count, a key early indicator of future production levels, dropped by 10 to 760 from 770 the previous week.
