SK hynix (SKHY) said Wednesday that although it is exploring options to "strengthen its global competitiveness," no deals have been finalized about a potential partnership with

Intel (INTC) to produce memory chips in the US.

The company responded to a media report that SK Hynix and Intel are discussing a US memory chip partnership that could potentially involve a joint venture or leasing space at Intel's Ohio plant.

"No specific plans or arrangements have been finalized at this time," the company said in a statement. "No decisions have been made regarding the two scenarios mentioned in the article."

"As a matter of policy, we will not comment on speculation in the media about future business arrangements," an Intel spokesperson toldin an emailed statement. "However, Intel is committed to Ohio, and we continue with our investments to accelerate the site readiness."
