Opus Genetics (IRD) shares jumped 30% in Wednesday trading after it said that patients with Bestrophin-1-related retinal diseases showed clinically meaningful improvement in visual function in the low-dose cohort 1 of its BIRD-1 phase 1/2 clinical trial evaluating OPGx-BEST1.
The biopharmaceutical company said the five participants in the trial with BEST1-related retinal diseases showed meaningful visual improvements. It also said four of the five patients showed structural improvements.
There were no serious adverse events, dose-limiting toxicities, or intraocular inflammation reported in the trial.
