(Updates to add MMG and European Commission spokespersons' responses to' request for comment)
EU regulators are preparing to raise competition concerns over MMG's (HKG:1208) planned acquisition of Anglo American's Brazilian nickel business, Reuters reported, citing three people familiar with the matter.
The European Commission is expected to issue a statement of objections this month, outlining the issues MMG would need to address for the deal to proceed, according to the report.
MMG could avoid the formal charge sheet by offering remedies, although this is considered unlikely, the report said.
MMG's spokesperson, in an email response to' comment request, declined to comment further on the matter as the process remains ongoing, but said that the company "remains committed to the acquisition and continues to engage constructively with the relevant European Union authorities."
Meanwhile, the European Commission also declined to comment on the matter.
