Japan Airlines (TYO:9201) is leaning toward Embraer's E2 series over the Airbus A220 for an order of about 20 regional jets, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The carrier is expected to finalize its choice by October, though sources cautioned the decision is not yet locked in and conditions could shift before a formal announcement, the report said.

An Airbus spokesperson, in an emailed response to' query, said, "We do not comment on confidential discussions with our customers."

Meanwhile, Japan Airlines and Embraer did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
