Deutsche Bank (DB) has made a slew of hires as part of a plan to rebuild its energy trading business after largely exiting the commodities sector over a decade ago, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The bank has hired two former Goldman Sachs (GS) traders and at least two senior Morgan Stanley (MS) commodity sales executives as part of the effort, the report said, citing the people.
"We've seen strong demand from our corporate clients for energy solutions in recent years," Deutsche Bank said in a statement. "Given this, and the strategic importance of energy, we are further building up our capabilities so that we can support our corporate clients globally in line with our Global Hausbank strategy of providing a full client service."
