Update: Market Chatter: Apollo's Atlas Faces Possible Loss From MFS Collapse

Funds backed by Apollo Global Management's (APO) Atlas SP Partners had about 400 million pounds ($529.8 million) of exposure to collapsed UK mortgage firm Market Financial Solutions, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing filings by court-appointed administrators.

Two entities that were part of the UK mortgage firm, Amber Bridging and Zircon Bridging, owe a combined 970 million pounds to Atlas, the report said.

Atlas may receive 107 million pounds to 200 million pounds, the administrators' latest estimates showed, according to the report.

"These are public filings from the administrators, and our valuation of this position has already accounted for the potential losses referenced in these filings," Atlas toldvia email.

Spire Global (SPIR) won a $33.2 million contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to deliver global navigation satellite system radio occultation data to enhance weather forecasting.The data will feed NOAA's prediction models and support weather forecasting, space weather applications, and research by scientific organizations, Spire said Tuesday in a statement.The two-year contract, which starts Dec. 1, includes additional unfunded surge-buy options that may raise the total value to $66 million if fully exercised, the company said.Spire shares rose 2.2% in after-hours trading.
