Update: Apple Debuts First Foldable iPhone; Updates iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods, Watch Lineup

Apple (AAPL) introduced iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, featuring a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both using Super Retina XDR technology.

The device runs on the new A20 Pro chip with a dual-battery architecture and comes in star white and night sky finishes, and iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, the company said Wednesday in a statement.

Apple also unveiled iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, powered by A20 Pro and built on 2-nanometer process technology with a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and Dual 16-core Neural Engine. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,299 in the U.S.

The company launched AirPods 5, priced at $129, adding Active Noise Cancellation to its entry-level open-ear earbuds for the first time. A version with a wireless charging case costs $149. Apple said the new ANC cuts up to 50% more external noise than AirPods 4 with ANC.

Apple Watch Series 12 debuts at $399 with a new S11 chip and Health Sensing System, enabling heart-rate measurements every five seconds and a readiness score that gauges daily capacity based on activity, training load, vitals, and sleep.

Apple also unveiled Apple Watch Ultra 4, starting at $799, which carries the same Health Sensing System and readiness feature, plus up to 45 hours of battery life in its Max Extended Workout mode for longer outdoor activities.

Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 are available for preorder Wednesday, with iPhone 18 Pro preorders opening Saturday. All three go on sale in stores Sept. 18, and iPhone Duo preorders begin Oct. 16, with availability starting Oct. 23.

Ford Motor Company Reportedly Faces Trump Administration Criticism Over China Ties

Ford Motor Company's (F) business partnerships with Chinese companies drew criticism from the Trump administration on Tuesday, with US officials saying they pose significant national security concerns, multiple outlets reported.In a letter to Ford CEO Jim Farley, US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the automaker's dealings with Chinese battery maker CATL and Chinese automakers Geely and BYD were of "profound concern," the report said.Duffy said USDOT was "deeply alarmed" by Ford's reliance on licensed CATL battery technology at its Marshall, Michigan plant.
