Amazon.com (AMZN) is eliminating some roles within parts of its artificial general intelligence organization, a company spokesperson confirmed toWednesday in an emailed statement.
Affected US employees will receive their pay and benefits for 90 days, outplacement job search support, access to transitional health benefits, and will be eligible for a severance payment, the spokesperson said.
Despite the cuts, the company remains committed to investing in artificial intelligence, describing the layoffs as part of the company's efforts to prioritize the initiatives that are believed to have the greatest impact for its customers, according to The Wall Street Journal.
