Unimicron Unit to Buy Remaining $19 Million Stake in Affiliate Unigreat; Shares Slump 10%

Unimicron Technology (TPE:3037) unit Smart Idea will acquire shares worth $19 million in affiliated company Unigreat, as part of a long-term investment, according to a Tuesday Taiwan Exchange filing.

Shares slumped 10% in Wednesday's recent trade.

Smart Idea will acquire 19 million shares at $1 apiece from a related party, bringing its total holding in Unigreat to 64.9 million shares, representing 100% ownership, with a cumulative investment of $64.9 million.

The acquisition will be funded by the parent company's own funds and is subject to approval by Taiwan's Investment Review Department under the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
