Unimicron Technology (TPE:3037) board approved a $142.0 million investment in its unit, Hemingway Int'l, as part of a long-term investment strategy, according to a Tuesday Taiwan Exchange filing.
Shares slumped 10% in Wednesday's late morning trade.
The company will acquire 142 million common shares in Hemingway Int'l at $1 per share, bringing its cumulative holding to about 413.99 million shares, or 100% ownership.
The investment will be funded from Unimicron's own resources and remains subject to approval by Taiwan's Investment Review Department under the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
