Unauthorized Personnel Board Anchored Vessel Northeast of Fujairah, Heading Towards Iran

An anchored vessel was seized by unauthorized personnel about 38 nautical miles northeast of Fujairah, UAE, and is now heading towards Iranian territorial waters, the UK Maritime Trade Operations said Thursday.

"UKMTO has received a report of an incident 38NM northeast of [Fujairah, UAE]," the agency said in an alert. "The CSO has reported that the vessel has been taken by unauthorised personnel whist at anchor and is now bound for Iranian Territorial Waters."

Fujairah is a major crude oil export hub of the UAE. UKMTO said it is investigating the situation.

Aspen Midstream Reaches Final Investment Decision on New Katy Hub Natural Gas Facility in Texas

Texas-based independent energy company Aspen Midstream has reached a final investment decision on its midstream infrastructure Aspen Katy Hub header facility, it said on Wednesday.The facility, expected to be completed in Q1 2027, is expected to make available about 3 billion cubic feet per day of total receipt and delivery capacity with eight major natural gas pipelines, the company said in a statement.The project will ensure bi-directional natural gas connectivity in the Katy, Texas region by linking domestic supply to liquified natural gas, power, and industrial markets along the Gulf Coast, the company said.The project involves installation of new compression and include low- and high-pressure header systems.The facility has already secured long-term, take-or-pay contracts from investment grade shippers.

Hydrostor to Build Compressed Air Energy Storage Project in Canada

Canadian energy storage developer Hydrostor plans to build a compressed air energy storage project in Greater Napanee, Ontario, it said on Wednesday.The company will now seek permits for the project and will develop it in partnership with Indigenous equity partner Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. It has received backing at the municipal level after a year-long consultation process, Hydrostor's statement said.No capacity figures were included in the company's statement, but its website describes its technology as offering a 500-megawatt energy supply, or an 8-hour duration energy supply.The statement said the project will create about 40 permanent jobs for the facility's estimated 50-year lifespan and that it would add about CA$1.4 billion ($1.02 billion) to Canada's GDP.
