The UK government plans to accelerate delivery of critical energy and infrastructure projects by shifting approval authority to parliament, limiting delays caused by judicial reviews, according to multiple media outlets.
A Treasury spokesperson cited by Reuters said Britain's finance minister Rachel Reeves will unveil related reforms giving parliament such authority, to allow faster buildout of power plants, wind farms and grid connections.
The government reportedly aims to reduce energy bills and help strengthen energy security through the move.
The planned reforms, if implemented, could cut procedural delays and boost investment in systems that will increase electricity supply and add new capacity to the grid, media outlet Traders Union said.
The Treasury department did not immediately respond to' request for comment.
