The UK government is developing a strategy to boost cybersecurity to protect energy infrastructure, it said on Thursday, to counter growing threats linked to digitalization.
The strategy is a four-year plan to embed cyber security in Great Britain's clean energy system as it expands the grid and supplies of renewable and nuclear power, while seeking to increase resilience of existing infrastructure.
The government will work with the National Energy System Operator, energy regulator Ofgem and the National Cyber Security Centre to identify cyber threats and defend against them.
One aspect of this is increased powers for cyber regulators as stipulated in the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, currently being examined by the parliament.
