Two Robinhood Markets (HOOD) engineers were charged with commodities fraud and wire fraud, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jamie McDonald and FBI New York Field Office Assistant Director James Barnacle, Jr. said Tuesday.
The two engineers, Hefu Chai and Huaisong Xiang, allegedly participated in a scheme to misappropriate confidential business information from Robinhood to trade perpetual futures on a decentralized derivatives exchange, the officials said.
"Robinhood takes market integrity seriously and has zero tolerance for insider trading. We have robust insider trading policies and procedures in place, including for new crypto listings. We immediately investigated and reported this matter to law enforcement and regulators, and will continue to cooperate with their investigations," a company spokesperson said in an email to.
