US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have both agreed that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to support global energy flows, news outlets have reported Thursday, citing the White House.
Xi also opposed plans to charge vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the report said.
During their talks in Beijing, President Xi also expressed interest in increasing US oil imports to reduce China's reliance on Middle East shipping routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, according to the reports.
