TotalEnergies (TTE.PA) is planning a multi-well campaign in Suriname to drill four new exploration wells at Block 58, where it is a minority partner, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the company's Vice President for Exploration in the Americas Daniel Larranaga.
The French energy giant aims to "unlock further potential" in the area. The partners could decide to develop a second field if a discovery is large enough or tie it back to the $10.5 billion Gran Morgu offshore project. The drilling campaign's timeline is dependent on rig availability, the report said.
Gran Morgu is expected to begin oil production in 2028, the report added.
