French energy giant TotalEnergies SE (TTE) said Friday that it had entered into a partnership with Global Infrastructure Partners, a unit of private equity firm BlackRock (BLK).
GIP is set to make a $1.8 billion capital contribution in return for a throughput-based tariff on TotalEnergies' African oil and gas infrastructure assets for a period of up to 15 years.
"We are pleased to strengthen our relationship with GIP through this infrastructure agreement, which crystallizes the value of some of our midstream infrastructure assets in Africa," TotalEnergies CFO Jean-Pierre Sbraire said.
