Top Education Group's (HKG:1752) probe into a data breach incident revealed that 24,934 individuals are estimated to have been affected when an unauthorized third party gained access to the company's Student Management System.
The individuals include prospective, current, and former students and staff members currently or previously located in Australia, according to a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing.
Certain personal information of those affected may have been subject to unauthorized access or disclosure following the breach, which resulted from the compromised credentials of a staff member.
The company has informed the individuals of the breach and potential disclosure of the information, as well as provided guidance on protecting themselves from the misuse of such information, if it occurs.
The educational company also took measures to tighten its cybersecurity, the filing said.
