US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said Iran told his administration that it is not seeking charges of any kind, including tolls and insurance, from ships looking to cross the Strait of Hormuz, but threatened to end negotiations if the information was false.
"Iran has informed the US that, despite troublemaking fake news reporting to the contrary, there are no tolls, no insurance costs, & no other charges of any kind being sought or received by Iran on ships traveling the Strait of Hormuz," he said in a post on Truth Social.
"If this is false information, negotiations would end, immediately!," he said.
Trump further said the US has not released any money to Iran and that some funds would be used to pay US farmers and ranchers for the purchase of corn, wheat, and soybeans among other supplies to be provided to Iran.
