Japan-based Tokyo Gas on Thursday reported fiscal Q1 total city gas sales volumes down 1.1% to 2.45 billion cubic meters, compared with 2.48 bcm in the corresponding quarter last year.
For the quarter ended June 30, consolidated electric power sales volume fell 7.4% to 5.494 terawatt-hours from 5.932 TWh in the year-ago period.
For fiscal year 2026, the company projected city gas sales volumes at 10.79 bcm, 3.4% down from the 11.18 bcm reported for the previous year.
Meanwhile, total electric power sales volumes for FY 2026 are forecast at 28.49 TWh, up 1.7% from 28.02 TWh in FY 2025.
In Q1, the Group reported a 4% or 26.1 billion Japanese yen ($160.1 million) year-on-year rise in net sales to 673.44 billion yen "mainly due to an increase in sales in the North American shale gas business despite a decrease in gas and electric power sales volume," the company said.
