TCL Zhonghuan to Invest 2.6 Billion Yuan in Back Contact Cell, Module Upgrade

TCL Zhonghuan Renewable Energy Technology (SHE:002129) plans to invest 2.6 billion yuan to upgrade 20 gigawatts of cell capacity and 25 gigawatts of module capacity to back-contact technology across multiple bases.

The transformation will convert existing TOPCon lines and is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027, with phased production beginning in the third quarter of 2026, according to a Friday filing with the Shenzhen bourse.

Upon completion, all cell capacity will be back contact-based, with 50% of module capacity converted.

Shares of the photovoltaic supplies maker declined 3% in recent trade.
