Tata Consultancy Services (NSE:TCS, BOM:532540) is building a team of up to 8,900 forward-deployed engineers and evaluating acquisitions in artificial intelligence, data security and cybersecurity as it seeks to expand its AI business, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing company executives.
TCS CEO K. Krithivasan said the company aims to have 1% to 1.5% of its workforce in forward-deployed engineering roles, which involve working directly with clients to accelerate AI adoption and develop tailored solutions.
The company is also considering acquisitions in AI-related areas after years of relying mainly on organic growth, CFO Samir Seksaria said.
TCS reported slower AI revenue growth in the first quarter, with annualized AI revenue growth easing to 13% from 28% in the prior quarter, Reuters noted.
Shares of the company rose nearly 3% in recent trade.
