Takeda Pharmaceutical Wins US Approval for New PV Treatment MIMRYLO

Takeda Pharmaceutical (TYO:4502) has secured U.S. approval for MIMRYLO, a new once-weekly injectable medicine for adults with polycythemia vera, a rare blood disorder that causes the body to produce too many red blood cells.

Clinical trial data showed nearly 77% of patients responded to the treatment, which helped control red blood cell levels and reduced the need for blood removal procedures, while also improving fatigue.

The most common side effects were injection-site reactions and anemia, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Friday.

The approval offers a fresh approach for the estimated 90,000 Americans living with the condition, many of whom struggle to manage their symptoms with existing options.
