Taiwan's CPC Keeps Domestic Gas, Diesel Prices Steady Despite Global Price Hike

Taiwan's state-owned CPC will keep domestic gasoline and diesel prices unchanged from July 20 to July 26, despite higher international oil prices, to help ease inflationary pressure and support livelihoods, according to a Saturday press release.

Retail prices will remain at NT$29.8, NT$31.3 and NT$33.3 per liter for 92-, 95- and 98-octane unleaded gasoline, respectively, while premium diesel will stay at NT$28.8 per liter.

CPC said the government expanded commodity tax reductions and the company absorbed additional costs to keep fuel prices steady, with cumulative subsidies and cost absorption totaling about NT$15.56 billion since Feb. 28.

Malaysia Pension Fund Pursuing Recovery of eFishery Investment After Fraud Case

Malaysia's state pension fund Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) said it invested 163.4 million ringgit in Indonesian agritech startup eFishery for a 2.51% minority stake and is pursuing "all available avenues to maximize recovery of the investment."The statement followed a Bloomberg report that Malaysia's anti-graft agency had launched an investigation into losses linked to KWAP's investment in eFishery.KWAP said the losses stemmed from deliberate financial manipulation at eFishery. The fund noted that co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer Gibran Huzaifah was sentenced to nine years in prison in April for embezzlement and money laundering.The pension fund said it has completed an internal review of the investment and strengthened its private market investment process and portfolio monitoring after the irregularities were uncovered.
