Taiwan Investigates Alleged Poaching of High-Tech Talent by 17 Chinese Companies

By

Taiwan government has conducted investigations in relation to 17 Chinese companies illegally poaching Taiwanese high-tech talent from Taiwan between July 13 and Aug. 4, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau.

The bureau said more than 330 personnel were mobilized, 64 locations were searched, and 114 people were questioned over their alleged involvement with several well-known Chinese companies accused of illegally poaching employees from Taiwan.

It claimed that Chinese companies had concealed their identities by pretending to be Taiwanese or foreign companies, setting up offices without the requisite approvals and sending staff to the semiconductor hub to illegally recruit Taiwanese talent.

The bureau said such recruitment affected the country's competitive advantage in the fields of artificial intelligence and technology.
